Thank You For a Wonderful Year!
Let's talk about what we did in 2024 and what we plan for 2025!
It's the holiday season! Yay! Before we take a break to spend time with our loved ones for the holidays in the next few weeks, I want to thank you and reflect on 2024. A lot happened for Geek Peek this year. Let's discuss a few memorable events and what we plan for 2025.
Geek Peek Interviews
We published ten interviews throughout the year, and one more will be released next week to close out 2024. Six of those are just the beginning of season 3.
Those interviews were fantastic. However, if I let you peek behind the curtain, you'll know we already recorded more interviews that have yet to be released.
I'm so thankful we got to do season 3 and talk to some wonderful people. Cody and I plan to finish recording the four remaining episodes of season 3 while continuing to release the episodes we have already recorded and edited.
Season 3 will end by March 30th, 2025 if all goes well.
But that's not all we're doing in 2025!
Table-Top One-Shots
We released four one-shots in 2024. All four received less than 500 views on YouTube, which is disappointing but not unexpected.
Doing one-shots allowed me to play D&D for the first time. Cody also got to run a Call of Cthulhu one-shot, which was awesome.
Those adventures live in my mind as wonderful experiences with friends, and even though they didn't "pay for themselves," I'm so pleased we made them anyway.
We plan to do more in 2025. Since many of you don't even know they exist, expect some highlights and shorts from them, too.
Geek Peek Blog
Geek Peek's Blog was born earlier this year. Up until then, I had been carrying around a lot of nerdy articles I wrote under my own name and didn't know where to curate them.
Once it clicked to expand Geek Peek from just the podcast name to our "brand," it made so much sense to import these here under this name.
I'm a writer first and a podcaster second. Writing is something I enjoy doing regardless of the videos. Expect a lot more writing in 2025, especially as it's the most cost-effective content I can produce when money is tight.
Making Money
Geek Peek made a total of 264 dollars in 2024. We don't have any other income streams besides my day job salary, so everything we built this year was built thanks to my wages.
In 2024, I was reminded how much a day job salary can be fickle and untrustworthy.
One of my goals for 2025 is to understand how to change that. How can we make it a no-brainer for you to help us film the next one-shot? I still don't have a good answer to this question. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the matter in the comments below.
Building a Community
In 2024, our Discord server housed an average of 100 people. We have varied discussions in many channels, even if only some of us are active at any given time.
Building Discord is one of my favorite parts of this community. You usually get feedback faster there than when you release a video and wait for people to discover and comment on it.
If I were to set a goal for 2025, I'd love to double the number of Discord members to 200. If you want to join us you can do so here:
Thank You And Happy Holidays!
That's all I have for you today. Thank you, as always, for being part of this community, and happy holidays to you and yours.
